For example if you are giving a pig ear for the first time, give it to your dog and let him have some of it then take it away to be sure he does well with it before letting him eat a whole one. Be sure to give your dog plenty of fresh water also and be careful of the size of treat in relation to the size of your dog, so no small pieces become a choking hazard.
